Accessible Arts is the peak arts and disability organisation in New South Wales. In collaboration with Sydney Arts Management Advisory Group (SAMAG), Accessible Arts presented an online panel discussion, Innovating Art Through Disability, where Jackie Leach Scully was invited to represent the UNSW Disability Innovation Institute.
'I can’t pretend to be an artist, but I was able to talk about the way in which the Institute pursues its interdisciplinary goals through connections with the arts – as illustrated by the images on our website, created by artists from Studio A. We also discussed how I, as a deaf woman, encounter the world of music through my partner who is a professional musician.' - Jackie Leach Scully
Also on the panel were Eugenie Lee, a Korean-Australian conceptual artist who develops works expressing her lived experience with chronic pain; and Dan Graham, a neurodiverse writer and director from Sydney.
This was a fascinating exploration of very different artistic experiences.
